Swedish Large Laggkärl, ca 1830-50

Rare Swedish Large Laggkärl, circa 1830-50

This barrel was used for keeping things cold, primarily for preserving fish and meat. Its legs allow for placement underneath, for ice, and it also has drainage holes on the top and bottom, now plugged with metal.

It has a beautiful brown glow, and one can still see the lines of the old brasses. It’s fixed inside with metal braces.

Makers mark on the side.
Made out of pine wood.
