Swedish ‘Timplåda’ Wooden Box, dated 1824
A ‘timplåda’ is a traditional Swedish wooden box, handcrafted with care. Popular during the 18th and 19th centuries, these boxes were used for storing food, candles, textiles, spices, or small valuable items. Often adorned with carvings or paintings, they were sometimes personalized with dates (such as 1824) and initials (PLS). This box was most likely given as a wedding gift.
