Swedish ‘Valkbräda’ ca 1780

A valkbräda is a traditional tool used for fulling wool fabric, particularly vadmal.
By rubbing the fabric against the grooved board with water and soap, the material became denser and more durable.

It is a simple but aesthetically beautiful object.

Made out of pine wood.
